Instagram Sextortion: How Scammers Use Your DMs Against You
June 8, 2025
What If the Sextortion Scammer Already Messaged My Friends or Family?
June 10, 2025If you’re here, you might be facing one of the most terrifying moments online — being threatened, blackmailed, or extorted by someone on social media.
Whether it started as a flirtatious message or a fake friend request, sextortion scams are now rampant on platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp.
Here’s what to do — and how to report these threats correctly, before things spiral.
Step 1: Don’t Panic or Reply
The scammer’s power lies in your panic. The moment you reply, plead, or send money, they know they’ve got your attention. And they won’t stop.
✅ Take screenshots of all messages ✅ Note down usernames and links ✅ Don’t respond ✅ Don’t send money

❌ Don’t threaten them — it can escalate things
-
❌ Don’t delete the chat history — evidence matters
